Get To Know Me by Bex March 13, 2022 Hello! I’m so glad you’re here. My name is Bex Rayner and welcome to my blog, Begin To Adventure. This blog is a space for anyone that loves adventure, whether that’s exploring close to home or discovering far-flung corners of the globe. Hells Gate National Park, Kenya Cycling the Isle of Wight The aim of this blog is to help and inspire you to live more adventurously. I don’t know about you but I’m a big believer in life being better when it’s filled with adventure. I’ve started this blog as a beginner myself. I’ve certainly had my fair share of adventures, whether that was cycling through national parks in Kenya or backpacking solo through Mexico. But I fully acknowledge there’s still a lot I don’t know. I’m excited to share my journey with you, and hopefully, you’ll be able to learn a lot from the many inevitable mistakes I’ll make along the way. Chasing Waterfalls in Iceland Get To Know Me The adventurous appetite begins Meeting David Bellamy in London I’m from Hampshire in the UK and enjoyed growing up exploring the countryside and learning about nature. Baby Bex was obsessed with wildlife and learning about the world. National Geographic Kids was on almost every day and the Rugrats Around The World Magazine probably is to blame for my insatiable appetite to travel. As a kid, I was part of a little group called The Hampshire and Isle Of White Wildlife Watchers. We took part in conservation projects, went camping and learnt about animals. I remember long night walks with my bat detecting, discovering what different species of bats were flying around me. As a group, we won lots of awards for our conservation projects. I remember meeting the renowned botanist David Bellamy at an awards presentation at the Natural History Museum in London. A teen, a tent and a backpack The adventures continued, and as a teen, it was time to pick up a map and take part in the Duke Of Edinburgh awards. It was great fun planning routes and carrying huge bags full of all our gear through the beautiful New Forest. I remember inventing fun recipes to cook with ease on a tiny camping stove. There’s something so calming about being out in nature. Time to take on the world In my youth, I had fun exploring the UK, but in my 20s it was time to discover the world. The first time I ever boarded a plane I was 21 years old. To some, I may have been late to the game, but there really was no looking back from there. My lifetime goal is to visit every country in this weird and wonderful world – and have plenty of adventures along the way! My favourite adventures have always been on the paths less travelled and the experiences more on the adventurous side. I spent 4 months volunteering in Kenya, and in my free time camped, cycled and hiked all around the Great Rift Valley. The scenery and wildlife were unforgettable, and I will always have a soft spot for Kenya. Hiking the Menengai Crater in Kenya On a whim, I decided to spend three weeks solo backpacking around Mexico, and armed with a backpack and a list of places I wanted to see, had one of the best adventures of my life. Playa Del Carmen, Mexico There are obviously so many other adventures I could mention here, but that’s what the rest of the blog is for 😉 Find me on social media Facebook Instagram Twitter YouTube Pinterest So my quest for adventure continues, and as It does I would love to take you along for the ride.
